Program Manager, Preclinical & Early Development (Biotech)

Location: Onsite at the Brisbane, California headquarters at least five days per week

Salary: $213,200–$270,600 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain integrated project plans covering timelines, milestones, resources, dependencies, and critical paths for IND-enabling and early clinical programs.
• Coordinate plans and estimates across Research, Translational Sciences, Discovery Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK, Nonclinical Safety, CMC, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and Biometrics.
• Facilitate project meetings, document decisions, track action items, and communicate the impact of changes in scope, timing, and resourcing.
• Run the day-to-day rhythm of partnered governance committees, including agendas, meeting materials, minutes, repositories, rosters, and follow-up.
• Track risks and issues, develop contingency plans, and prepare status reports, dashboards, and governance materials.
• Support resource forecasting and improve project management tools, templates, and processes across Preclinical and Early Development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of project or program management experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments, spanning discovery through translational and early clinical development.
• Experience building integrated project plans and translating scientific input into realistic timelines and dependency maps.
• Strong meeting facilitation, written and verbal communication, judgment, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively with scientists, functional leads, senior leadership, and external partners without formal authority.
• Ability to work onsite at the Brisbane, California headquarters at least five days per week.

Nice to have

• Background in immunology, oncology, clinical pharmacology, or another complex therapeutic area.
• Experience with external-partner governance structures, alliance management, or joint committees.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience working within a project management structure.
