Medical Assistant Instructor (Medical Assisting)

Location: Bakersfield, CA, USA; campus-based position

Compensation: USD 27–30 per hour

What you will do

• Deliver prepared medical assisting instruction aligned with syllabus objectives and learning outcomes.
• Design lesson plans that accommodate students’ abilities, learning styles, and individual differences.
• Provide academic advising, career counseling, mentoring, and ongoing student support.
• Identify students experiencing barriers to achievement or at risk of leaving the course and refer them to appropriate campus services.
• Use varied assessment methods, including cooperative learning, reports, and teamwork.
• Collaborate with campus departments, academic committees, and institutional initiatives while following regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma; advanced education or a college degree is preferred.
• At least three years of hands-on clinical experience as a medical assistant.
• Current knowledge of medical assistant practice and the ability to mentor a diverse student population.
• Strong interpersonal, oral presentation, and communication skills; ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Availability for the campus schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., varying according to campus needs.

Nice to have

• Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program.
• Certified Medical Assistant credentials such as RMA, CMA, or NRCMA.
• Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle.
