Medical Assistant (Primary Care)

Location: Newport News, Virginia, United States; onsite

Salary: $21.00–$26.00 per hour

What you will do

• Escort patients, prepare examination rooms, and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
• Review medical information, collect updated health data, record accurate documentation, and process test results.
• Take vital signs, perform blood draws, administer medications and immunizations, bandage wounds, and assist with clinical procedures.
• Support patient scheduling, check-in and check-out, medical record requests, referrals, specialist visits, and care coordination.
• Collaborate with the care team on individual patient plans and identify gaps in care.
• Conduct patient outreach to support engagement among eligible patient groups.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in primary care.
• Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant or related program.
• National or state-specific Medical Assistant certification or registration; certification or registration is required where mandated by the state.
• CPR/BLS certification is required by the start date.

Nice to have

• Phlebotomy experience.
