Head of Communications (Legal Services)

Location: Fully remote, with travel to Los Angeles usually quarterly and for offsites.

Salary: $250,000–$350,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the communications strategy, core messaging, editorial calendar, operating infrastructure, and performance measurement.
• Build an earned media and public relations program using proprietary data and original insights.
• Develop rapid-response communications around Social Security Administration and related policy news.
• Partner with Public Affairs and Advocacy to organize Congressional events, briefings, and Washington fly-ins.
• Lead corporate communications, executive positioning, thought leadership, and crisis preparedness.
• Manage agencies and cross-functional partnerships while hiring and developing the communications team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of communications experience, including meaningful work in policy-adjacent, advocacy, government, regulated, mission-driven, or related environments.
• Demonstrated earned-media results driven by data and original insight.
• Experience organizing Congressional events and fly-ins and working with Congressional staff.
• Strong writing and editing skills across media pitches, executive op-eds, internal memos, and talking points.
• Ability to coordinate agencies, Legal, Policy, executives, and Growth teams.
• Understanding of Congress and federal agencies, plus compassion for people facing serious life challenges.
