Business Analyst (Zero Waste & Resource Management)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates may be based anywhere in the country and are not expected to report to a GM worksite unless directed by their manager. Travel required: less than 25%. The role is associated with Warren, Michigan. No relocation benefits are provided.

Salary: $105,600–$140,700 base salary annually, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Support global Zero Waste goals, roadmaps, dashboards, scorecards, governance routines, and site-level action plans.
• Develop and track Resource Management and Chemical Management budgets, forecasts, purchase orders, invoices, savings, and variances for the United States and Canada.
• Support environmental capital planning, business cases, approvals, realized benefits, risks, and interdependencies.
• Coordinate biological control activities for Metal Removal Fluids with plants, vendors, and technical experts.
• Analyze waste, recycling, safety, incident, risk, financial, and operational data to identify trends, outliers, and improvement opportunities.
• Maintain program documentation, processes, reports, dashboards, and benchmarking materials while coordinating cross-functional workshops and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, data analytics, operations, EH&S, environmental programs, or a related discipline.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel; Power BI or similar tools is beneficial.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, spend and variance analysis, savings tracking, purchase orders, and invoices; familiarity with SAP or an equivalent enterprise system.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, accuracy, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Must be based in the United States. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship or work authorization support, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 support.

Nice to have

• Experience in waste, resource, or chemical management, environmental engineering, or industrial operations.
• Knowledge of Zero Waste concepts, waste hierarchy, recycling, and landfill diversion.
• Experience with safety data, biological treatment or control, manufacturing plants, logistics providers, or environmental service suppliers.
• Experience improving business processes, templates, governance routines, and documentation.
