Senior Back End Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in the United States, with an expectation of working from the Culver City office three days per week.

Salary: $185,000–$235,000 USD annually for Los Angeles, CA.

What you will do

• Lead engineering best practices, mentor engineers, and independently take defined problems from design through production.
• Build and extend authentication, authorization, RBAC, and OAuth/OIDC capabilities.
• Improve AWS and cloud infrastructure security, configuration, and operational guardrails.
• Optimize database performance, security, and reliability across high-volume transactional systems.
• Harden APIs, services, and distributed systems against failure and abuse.
• Improve production reliability through incident response, root-cause remediation, observability, and partnership with the Security/CISO team.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Ability to own well-defined problems end to end and drive solutions into production.
• Backend-focused engineering experience with the ability to work across the stack.
• Experience building and shipping security, scalability, or infrastructure improvements.
• Technical aptitude for Java, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, Postgres, Kubernetes, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
• Strong ownership, communication, resilience, assurance, and creative problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or other security-sensitive and highly regulated environments.
• Full-stack experience with a backend focus.
