Senior Software Engineer (Athena)

Location: Remote in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom

Base salary: $157,000–$184,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain Athena's core clearing-house components in Go on GCP, including customer onboarding, entitlement logic, and data ingestion pipelines.
• Own features and subsystems from design through production with appropriate testing, monitoring, and observability.
• Develop backend systems that parse, validate, deduplicate, and structure unstructured enterprise data.
• Design and operate reliable agentic AI workflows that automate complex multi-step tasks across production systems.
• Collaborate with staff and principal engineers on scalable architecture, review code, and lead multi-engineer initiatives.
• Contribute to on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems, Terraform infrastructure-as-code, and GCP-native operational tooling.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering foundation with experience shipping and maintaining production systems.
• Strong Go skills and experience with GCP and Terraform.
• Ability to methodically parse, validate, and deduplicate unstructured data.
• Experience with operational excellence practices including monitoring, alerting, and graceful degradation.
• Ability to independently scope and drive features with minimal oversight.
• Experience with agentic AI workflows and knowledge of security or infrastructure domains.

Nice to have

• Experience with customer-facing APIs or workflow systems.
• Experience in vulnerability security, coordinated disclosure, or CVE publication.
