Software Engineer (Data Infrastructure)

Salary: $125,000–$225,000 estimated base salary, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and operate ingestion pipelines for APIs, S3 files, and Postgres-to-ClickHouse replication.
• Design typed data contracts, discoverable datasets, and schema-management workflows across tenants.
• Develop secure batch-processing and event-driven accounting systems with clear operational visibility.
• Improve data correctness through completeness checks, re-ingestion workflows, observability, and traceability from ledger entries to raw events.
• Design scalable queries and materializations for reporting that ranges from board-level P&L views to individual transactions.
• Collaborate with accounting module engineers, reporting specialists, and AI-agent developers to shape data interfaces.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful work on data-intensive systems.
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of columnar stores, partitioning, and query performance.
• Experience with modern transformation or orchestration tools such as SQLMesh, dbt, Dagster, or Airflow.
• Strong general-purpose programming skills, especially TypeScript, with Python experience.
• Experience with data pipelines, lakehouses, warehouses, ETL, idempotency, watermarks, and backfills.
• Ability to work in person in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse, Iceberg, or Athena.
• Experience with multi-tenant data isolation, PII handling, SOC 2, or audit-driven controls.
• Exposure to financial or accounting data, including ERPs, general ledgers, or subledgers.
• Experience with Temporal or Inngest.
