Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; hybrid with three days in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Candidates must live in the United States.

Salary: $110,000–$126,000 base compensation annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and maintain Terraform and Python infrastructure for Databricks workspaces, catalogs, and AWS data infrastructure.
• Implement automated identity, permissions, data retention, security, and compliance controls, including SOX and SOC 2 audit evidence collection.
• Develop self-service applications and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and managing data infrastructure.
• Build and maintain Python and Spark pipelines and frameworks for moving data through the data lake.
• Resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement systemic fixes, and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
• Improve data delivery, platform reliability, performance, and operational automation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience focused on data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend development.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience building large-scale data pipelines and layered data architectures.
• Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Databricks or a comparable Spark-based platform.
• Understanding of data access control, privacy, or compliance requirements.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States and ability to work from the Denver office three days per week. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
