Principal Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Onsite at the ISD Office in Bentonville, Arkansas, United States

Salary: $110,000–$220,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead platform engineering initiatives delivering scalable cloud-native infrastructure and reusable tooling.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
• Architect and integrate AI-enhanced applications using modern programming languages and model-driven design.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting engineering standards across teams.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable success metrics with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Identify improvements to engineering processes, tools, and product quality.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership and scalable infrastructure delivery.
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, high availability, and fault tolerance.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML integration, software development lifecycle, and continuous integration and deployment.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and influencing architectural decisions.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
