Engineering Manager (Blockchain/DeFi)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

Salary: $180,000–$260,000 base salary per year, plus tokens, equity, benefits, and eligibility for annual equity and token refresh grants.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and retain engineers working on wallet clients, supporting services, and onchain integrations.
• Set technical direction for account creation and recovery, key management, signing, transaction construction and simulation, dApp connectivity, asset management, swaps, and DeFi experiences.
• Coordinate ownership and execution across web, browser extension, iOS, Android, backend services, SDKs, and protocol dependencies.
• Improve architecture, testing, release safety, observability, incident response, and post-incident learning for an asset-sensitive product.
• Partner with product, design, security, protocol, and ecosystem teams to balance usability, decentralization, privacy, and protection of user assets.
• Use data, user research, support feedback, and ecosystem context to prioritize work and measure engineering and product outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience managing and developing software engineers, including senior engineers, in a high-ownership product environment.
• Direct production experience building blockchain wallet functionality, including self-custody, private-key security, signing, recovery, transaction lifecycles, chain and RPC failures, and wallet-to-dApp interactions.
• Hands-on DeFi fluency, including liquidity, routing, slippage, staking, lending, bridges, protocol risk, smart-contract risk, and user protections for financial transactions.
• Strong systems judgment across client applications, backend services, APIs or SDKs, distributed dependencies, monitoring, and operational response.
• Ability to set direction in ambiguous environments, improve execution, deliver reliable multi-platform products, and maintain engineering accountability.
• Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating decentralized exchanges, aggregators, bridges, staking, lending, or fiat on- and off-ramps into a wallet.
• Familiarity with Sui, Move, programmable transaction blocks, zkLogin, Wallet Standard, or another modern smart-contract platform.
• Experience leading products through rapid growth, high transaction volume, security reviews, or asset-impacting incidents.
