Resident Engineer (Heavy Civil Infrastructure)

Location: California, USA or Washington, USA; onsite field-office and active construction-site work

Salary: $100,000–$180,000 per year ($48–$87 per hour)

What you will do

• Administer construction contracts in the field and enforce plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
• Oversee inspection staff, field coverage, daily reports, construction records, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate correspondence, submittals, requests for information, shop drawings, and technical responses with contractors, agencies, and design teams.
• Evaluate schedules, installed quantities, progress payments, change requests, potential change orders, and claims.
• Coordinate quality assurance, materials testing, nonconformance resolution, safety compliance, and corrective actions.
• Lead or support progress meetings, punch lists, testing and commissioning, substantial completion, and closeout.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, engineering technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in construction management, resident engineering, or construction engineering and inspection for large, complex heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience administering construction contracts, including submittals, requests for information, change management, and progress payments.
• Experience overseeing inspection staff and field documentation on an active construction site.
• Knowledge of construction methods, contract administration, quality assurance, engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Experience with project or construction management software such as Primavera P6, Unifier, Kahua, or e-Builder, plus Microsoft Office 365.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, or engineering technology.
• PE, CCM, or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or license.
• Experience as an owner’s resident engineer on contracts exceeding $100 million or on programs valued at $1 billion or more.
• Experience across transit, aviation, bridges, highways, water, or wastewater infrastructure.
• Experience with federally funded construction and Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or similar KPI reporting tools.
