Salary: $59,000–$84,700 CAD annually, plus potential discretionary variable incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Support quarterly LICAT regulatory capital filings using AXIS and Excel, including reasonability checks, movement explanations, and supporting analysis.
  • Forecast LICAT capital ratios and assess the impact of actuarial basis changes.
  • Contribute capital analysis and inputs to pricing initiatives, ORSA-related work, and other business projects.
  • Prepare materials for quarterly Capital Management Committee meetings and support regulatory requests, audits, and data calls.
  • Maintain and improve LICAT models, calculators, documentation, and model governance processes in AXIS and Excel.
  • Implement process improvements while ensuring compliance with professional actuarial standards and applicable legislation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, science, business, economics, or another relevant field.
  • One to two years of actuarial experience in a life or health insurance company is an asset.
  • Progress toward Society of Actuaries exams, or intent to pursue them, with a long-term goal of achieving the FSA and FCIA designations.
  • Experience with valuation systems such as AXIS, Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, and databases such as SQL Server.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and programming languages.
  • Strong time management, accountability, multitasking, report-writing, and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with insurance products including life insurance, annuities, or segregated funds.
  • Exposure to Canadian or U.S. valuation and solvency frameworks, including LICAT, RBC, or Solvency II.
