Director Communications (Energy)

Location: Hybrid role based in Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Salary: $160,800–$221,100 per year, plus an additional $50,000 annual Long Term Incentive Plan and a 30% annual bonus for eligible positions

What you will do

• Develop and implement external and employee communications strategies aligned with BGE’s business and reputation goals.
• Advise senior executive leaders on communications strategy, messaging, and tactics.
• Build relationships with media, government officials, public interest groups, and internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a primary spokesperson and oversee external communications programs, materials, editing, and execution.
• Measure communications effectiveness and manage budgets, priorities, deadlines, and project delivery.
• Lead a team of five, including hiring, talent development, performance management, coaching, and recognition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; 15–20 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and technical organization.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience, including experience leading and developing teams.
• Exceptional communications, interpersonal, strategic thinking, project management, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues, manage heavy workloads, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
