Construction Engineer (Transit Infrastructure)

Location: Vermont Avenue, Washington, District of Columbia; requires visits to project sites in the DC Metro area.

Salary: $114,345.69–$130,680.78 annually

What you will do

• Coordinate transit-related civil and structural construction projects under WMATA’s Joint Development Adjacent Construction team.
• Research WMATA records and review plans, specifications, calculations, monitoring reports, and work plans for impacts to property, operations, employees, and customers.
• Guide owners, developers, contractors, and project teams through WMATA requirements, design criteria, standards, procedures, and submittal expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews, design review meetings, site visits, pre-condition surveys, and progress meetings.
• Support project access and setup, including badging, Roadway Worker Protection training, track access, permits, switching orders, and site-specific work plans.
• Monitor project records, charges, funding requests, field compliance, safety measures, and closeout documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of construction field or construction management experience, preferably in transit, rail, joint development, or adjacent construction.
• Experience reviewing construction documents and supporting design-build, CMAR, or other alternative delivery projects.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, project management practices, safety requirements, rail or transit infrastructure, and fixed-facility construction.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction or project management platforms such as Procore; ability to obtain Roadway Worker Protection Training Level 2 within three months of hire.
