2027 Summer Intern - Structural Engineering, Bridge

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota; primarily office-based or at an assigned project site. Flexible or hybrid work arrangements may be available in some instances.

Salary: $20–$24 per hour. Final compensation depends on the anticipated graduation date.

hirify.global provides engineering services for transportation infrastructure projects involving departments of transportation, local agencies, and design-build contractors.

What you will do

• Support highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridge design.
• Assist with retaining wall design and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Help produce final plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Apply academic civil engineering knowledge alongside Professional Engineers and Technicians.
• Participate in software training, mentorship, networking, seminars, and other internship activities.

Requirements

• Undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in bridges.
• Previous experience or formal training with MicroStation, MathCAD, STAAD, or GeoPak.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Availability for 40 hours per week during the summer of 2027, from May 25 through August 13, with occasional overtime.

Nice to have

• Coursework or project experience in structural or bridge design.
• Knowledge of drafting techniques, plan development, and related engineering practices.
• Experience developing construction plans and specifications.
