TL;DR
Roadway Design Engineer (Transportation Infrastructure): Designing and delivering roadway and transportation infrastructure projects across Colorado with an accent on alignments, corridor design, grading, drainage coordination, and PS&E packages. Location: Denver, Colorado; hybrid work between an office and field environment

Salary: $105,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

  • Design roadways and perform engineering analyses covering alignments, corridor design, grading, typical sections, maintenance of traffic, and drainage coordination.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with CDOT, AASHTO, and local agency requirements.
  • Coordinate with traffic, drainage, structures, utilities, lighting, landscape, and environmental professionals.
  • Support scope development, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and quality control reviews.
  • Prepare technical reports, design memoranda, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings, stakeholder coordination, proposals, mentoring, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of roadway or transportation engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer license in Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado PE licensure within 6 months.
  • Experience applying AASHTO, CDOT, and local agency roadway design criteria.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or comparable roadway design software; Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering PS&E packages for municipal, county, or state transportation projects.
  • Consulting experience with public-sector clients and familiarity with Front Range client standards.
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, project management, and managing multiple assignments.
