Packaging Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and oversee cost-effective packaging solutions for data center networking products, field-replaceable units, subassemblies, and components.
• Design, qualify, release, and maintain packaging solutions for air, sea, rail, and road transportation.
• Plan and execute structural dynamic, environmental, and simulated shipping tests in internal and external laboratories.
• Analyze materials, cost, durability, weight, sustainability, product fragility, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Coordinate packaging design changes, manufacturing readiness, schedules, costs, and dependencies with hardware, software, manufacturing, vendors, suppliers, and external labs.
• Analyze test results, track bugs, recommend corrective actions, verify fixes, and release packaging designs, parts, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in protective packaging for telecom or data center products.
• Solid understanding of structural dynamic testing, including shock, vibration, and drop testing, and environmental testing, including temperature, humidity, altitude, and acoustic testing, for networking products.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards such as ISTA, FedEx, IEC, ASTM, and ISO.
• Ability to configure packaging for FRUs, single products, multipacks, pallets, and crates across air, sea, rail, and road transportation.
• Ability to perform fragility analysis with boundary scan testing and experience using mechanical and environmental test equipment, including shock and vibration tables.
• Experience conducting operational and non-operational dynamic and environmental tests at internal and external labs.
• Experience running standalone diagnostic or traffic tests using an operating system and traffic generator.
• Experience designing and procuring test fixtures, using CAD tools such as Fusion or SolidWorks, and managing BOMs and part numbers with tools such as Arena or Agile.
• Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and technical risk and tradeoff management skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MDVT, HALT, and NEBS testing.
