Associate Materials & Processing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Houston, United States; generally an office environment with occasional inside or outside work depending on the task.

What you will do

• Advise on Materials & Processes requirements for intravehicular and extravehicular spacecraft environments.
• Select, assess, and certify custom and commercial spaceflight hardware for flammability, toxicity, vacuum outgassing, corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
• Define testing and certification requirements and evaluate results for project-level compliance.
• Review project drawings, technical documentation, vendor procedures, and material processes against applicable requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, certifications, process specifications, and test plans for project milestone reviews.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to internal and external stakeholders while applying agile project management practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field with 0–2 years of experience, or a master’s degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of metallic and nonmetallic material specifications, properties, and testing.
• Ability to solve complex problems proactively, work in ambiguous and fast-moving environments, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong organization, collaboration, communication, technical rigor, and execution skills.
• Eligibility for access to export-controlled technical data may require additional U.S. export-control screening under NASA regulations, ITAR, or EAR; meeting the requirements is a condition of employment.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required to meet critical project milestones.
