Process Controls Engineer

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Must be able to report to the local office. Up to 25% domestic travel is required.

What you will do

• Collaborate with IT to prioritize and document activities for on-floor process equipment.
• Coordinate with controls staff engineers and subject-matter experts on execution resource planning, training, and development.
• Provide technical guidance to vendors and system suppliers during interface and support validation.
• Lead hardware and software updates for controls architecture and applications.
• Support manufacturing processes involving highly automated and manual operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Two years of experience as a Process Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a related role.
• Two years of experience with manufacturing and lean manufacturing processes, including highly automated and manual operations.
• Experience with robots, presses, vision equipment, PLC and HMI integration, and commissioning.
• Experience with controls-system safety validation, plant-floor monitoring and control systems, Andon systems, and SCADA error-proofing.
• Knowledge of common controls hardware and software standards, upload/download and compare systems, throughput, and material call systems.
