Principal Scientist, Flow Cytometry

Salary: $110,700–$166,100 USD per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design and implement qualified and validated immunophenotyping and custom cell-based assays, including high-content flow cytometry, receptor occupancy, tetramer/dextramer, ELISpot, and Fluorospot assays.
• Develop experimental plans, timelines, standard operating procedures, and validation schemes aligned with client requirements and applicable regulations.
• Execute assays, troubleshoot laboratory workflows, analyze data, and prepare technical reports, client communications, posters, papers, reviews, and white papers.
• Provide technical expertise on flow cytometry, cell sorting, primary cell assays, and laboratory quality and efficiency.
• Mentor, coach, and train flow laboratory scientists and technical staff in laboratory procedures, data review, and scientific communication.
• Act as an internal subject-matter expert on technical advances and industry trends while supporting client proposals, partnerships, recruitment, and revenue forecasting.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in life sciences or a related field, preferably immunology or cellular biology.
• At least 8 years of full-time post-doctoral laboratory experience.
• Hands-on flow cytometry and cell-based assay experience, including cell isolation and primary cell assays; ELISpot experience is preferred.
• Experience with cell sorting, assay qualification and validation under CAP, CLIA, GLP, or ISO guidelines, troubleshooting, technical reporting, and client relationships.
• Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension required.
• Ability to differentiate the full color spectrum and perform laboratory physical requirements, including lifting and working in freezer environments from -20°C to -196°C.

Nice to have

• 10–15+ years of experience as a core laboratory member, including direct management of a flow cytometry team.
• Industrial experience or management of external collaborations.
• Experience with viral infections, cell culture, cell line derivation, nucleic acid extraction from primary human samples, and spectrophotometric, Agilent, or fluorescence-based characterization.
