Global Lead, Women's Protection and Empowerment Systems Transformation (GBV/WPE)

Location: Hybrid; open to candidates located in and authorized to work in the United States of America, Kenya, or the United Kingdom. Internal candidates may be based in other countries where IRC operates, subject to local work authorization and employment conditions.

Compensation: US pay rate $145,000–$170,000 per year; UK pay rate £73,184–£86,906 per year. Local candidates are hired according to the applicable local salary scale.

What you will do

• Lead the transformation of global Women's Protection and Empowerment practice, including GBV prevention and response, women's empowerment, and systems strengthening.
• Set strategic direction, identify programmatic risks, and lead global business development and sustainable financing approaches for WPE services.
• Provide technical oversight of standards, methodologies, tools, case management strategy, and protection information systems.
• Guide research, evidence use, data interpretation, Communities of Practice, and learning across GBV, child protection, health, livelihoods, and social protection.
• Represent IRC externally through policy influence, thought leadership, partnerships, and cross-sector coalitions.
• Lead and develop global practice and project teams while supporting staff wellbeing, collaboration, and institutional transition.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive experience designing, leading, and implementing programs, including 7+ years in GBV or WPE.
• Established or growing regional or global expertise in WPE, GBV prevention and response, women's empowerment, and evidence-based practice.
• Experience in sector strategy, policy and advocacy, business development, financing, and cross-sector systems strengthening.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, influence diverse stakeholders, and operate effectively in ambiguous or transitional environments.
• Master's or postgraduate degree in social work, social policy, gender studies, international law, human rights law, international development, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Fluent English required; the role requires travel globally up to 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience in social work, social welfare systems, case management, or integrated protection service delivery.
• Experience working across GBV, child protection, health, livelihoods, and social protection datasets and systems.
• Arabic, French, Spanish, Farsi, Urdu, Swahili, Bambara, or other languages used in IRC programming.
