Atlassian Platform Architect

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Define the target architecture, technical strategy, governance standards, and roadmap for Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and the wider Atlassian ecosystem.
• Design and implement complex automations, workflows, integrations, reporting, and service management solutions using Jira Automation, Rovo, ScriptRunner, REST APIs, webhooks, and Marketplace applications.
• Lead platform health improvements, technical debt remediation, consolidation, migration, redesign, and transformation initiatives.
• Establish standards for identity, security, privacy, availability, recoverability, performance, data retention, monitoring, and auditability.
• Partner with IT, Security, Privacy, Compliance, Enterprise Systems, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to Jira administrators, mentor the team, review complex changes, and own high-risk architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience leading Jira and the Atlassian ecosystem in a large or complex organization.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Jira Cloud and Jira Service Management, including workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, automation, security, and project configuration.
• Strong experience with Forge, REST APIs, webhooks, workflow extensions, enterprise integrations, Atlassian Guard, SAML, SSO, SCIM, provisioning, and access controls.
• Experience defining enterprise architecture, platform governance, configuration standards, technical roadmaps, and reusable design patterns.
• Experience designing JSM and ITSM solutions aligned with ITIL practices and an enterprise IT operating model.
• Direct experience translating HIPAA and FedRAMP requirements into practical platform controls.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating and governing Marketplace applications and other Atlassian extensions.
• Experience leading platform remediation, migration, consolidation, or transformation programs.
