Underwriter (Probate)

Location: Rye Brook, New York, United States; in-person, on-site position

Salary: $85,000–$95,000 base annually plus performance-based incentive opportunities

What you will do

• Analyze funded probate cases and monitor their progress through the probate process.
• Review probate documents and perform due diligence to evaluate case merits and funding decisions.
• Recommend approvals, denials, and actions needed to ensure appropriate repayment on purchased assignments.
• Collaborate with team members to evaluate and close fundings, and communicate with heirs and attorneys as needed.
• Explain approval and denial rationales to the sales team and maintain accurate case records.
• Learn the probate process and improve due diligence procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills, sound judgment, and the ability to understand legal documents.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Tech-savvy and able to maintain thorough, accurate records.
• Probate-related experience and a senior paralegal background are preferred.
• Previous underwriting or portfolio management experience is an advantage.
