TL;DR
Clinical Operations Pharmacist (Health Informatics): Supporting clinical and analytical programs that optimize drug utilization, healthcare quality, and cost-effectiveness for pharmacy benefit plan sponsors with an accent on formulary management, utilization analysis, and evidence-based clinical interventions. Focus on developing Medicaid Preferred Drug Lists, coordinating DUE/DUR/QI programs, analyzing plan data, and supporting client-facing recommendations.

Location: San Diego, California, United States. The role works on-site at the San Diego headquarters or another company location; remote work is possible only with management approval based on business requirements. Work within the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone is required, and domestic travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Salary: $108,515–$152,464–$196,412 per year.

What you will do

  • Manage and contribute to clinical operations projects, programs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze benefit designs, formularies, drug utilization, clinical products, and plan performance trends.
  • Support clinical consultative services and develop evidence-based recommendations for client plan sponsors.
  • Coordinate utilization analyses and prepare accurate intervention recommendations and client presentations.
  • Support and maintain DUE, DUR, and QI programs aligned with plan, HEDIS, and NCQA guidelines.
  • Coordinate formulary and Preferred Drug List activities, rebate initiatives, P&T Committee meetings, and drug database updates.

Requirements

  • PharmD with at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including 1 year of subject-matter expertise.
  • Valid Registered Pharmacist license in California or an equivalent state.
  • Experience in Medicaid formulary management, including development, maintenance, and oversight of state Preferred Drug Lists.
  • Analytical skills and experience with health informatics, Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, and relational databases.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, problem-solving, and client service skills.
  • Ability to work in the EST time zone and, for on-site work, at the San Diego headquarters or another company location.

Nice to have

  • Access, SQL, or Python skills.
  • Part D, Commercial, Marketplace Formulary, disease management, or drug cost management experience.
  • Experience working with pharmacy benefit managers or health plans.
