Pharmacy Internship

Location: Des Moines, Iowa, USA; hybrid schedule from headquarters. The internship starts in May 2027.

Work within a health insurance pharmacy team that designs and delivers pharmacy benefits and develops solutions for responsible drug cost management.

What you will do

• Learn about managed care pharmacy and contribute to pharmacy benefit and drug management solutions.
• Research, prepare, and present clinical topics and new drug reviews to clinicians and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
• Track FDA decisions and support formulary updates.
• Evaluate prior authorization and utilization management data to identify quality improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Support appeals reviews, member or provider inquiries, and analysis of the economic impact of new drugs.

Requirements

• Current P1 or P2 PharmD student.
• Registered Pharmacist Intern.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, prioritization, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of applicable pharmacy rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Nice to have

• Prior internship or office experience.
• Practical experience using AI tools.
