Senior Accountant - Asset Management

Location: Chicago, United States

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Own day-to-day fund accounting and NAV oversight for a defined portfolio of US and UK-domiciled vehicles.
• Review monthly and quarterly NAV packages from third-party administrators, investigate breaks, and support final sign-off.
• Prepare investor, performance, management, and ad-hoc reporting packages.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, expense allocations, management and performance fees, equalization, series accounting, and crystallization calculations.
• Support financial statements, footnotes, audits, investor allocations, capital activity, and partner capital statements.
• Partner with finance, treasury, back-office, legal, investor relations, business management, administrators, auditors, and investment teams while improving and automating the accounting close.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 4–6 years of hedge fund accounting experience at a fund administrator, investment manager, or fund.
• Hands-on NAV preparation and review experience, including reconciliations, fee calculations, capital allocations, and investor reporting.
• Practical experience with derivatives, margin, collateral, settlement, multi-currency accounting, and FX translation.
• Strong command of US GAAP and IFRS for investment companies, including ASC 946 or equivalent.
• Advanced Excel skills, attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Nice to have

• CPA certification.
• Accounting experience with digital assets, including perpetuals, listed and OTC options, on-chain reconciliation, staking, and digital asset valuation.
• Exposure to alternative investment strategies and master-feeder, standalone, parallel, offshore, and UK fund structures.
