Senior Backend Engineer (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must currently reside in the US and be authorized to work full-time for any employer.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and maintain backend services and APIs for the insurance platform.
• Develop internal tooling and APIs that improve the speed, safety, and efficiency of business and engineering workflows.
• Integrate external services for payments, documents, and claims.
• Connect with data providers to source real-time property and risk information.
• Contribute to architectural and operational decisions, including microservices, monoliths, deployment techniques, and infrastructure.
• Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and support while collaborating with internal and external partners.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional experience developing backend web applications.
• Professional experience developing with Go; a Go code challenge is included in the interview process.
• Experience improving the stability, performance, and scalability of business-critical systems.
• Ability to deliver complete systems with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Must currently reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the US for any employer.

Nice to have

• Experience with backend systems, APIs, data integrations, cloud infrastructure, or insurance technology.
