Critical Environments Operator II (Data Center Operations)

Location: Sterling, Virginia, United States; onsite data center role with 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call emergency responsibilities

What you will do

• Complete assigned operations and maintenance tasks for data center and other assigned facility spaces.
• Use the computerized maintenance management system to track preventive maintenance, reactive work, labor hours, and work orders.
• Apply standard operating procedures and coordinate contractors and vendors, including site access, escorts, lockout/tagout, and work-area safety.
• Respond to building system alarms, preserve the critical load, minimize equipment damage, and support root cause analysis.
• Perform critical switching, equipment and system modifications, safe-work-area setup, and operational troubleshooting.
• Support high workmanship standards, policy compliance, emergency corrective maintenance, and 24/7 facility operations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Tier 2, Tier 3, or Tier 4 data centers, operations and maintenance, or building engineering.
• Entry-level electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R skills gained through an associate degree, technical training, or facility maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of work order control, computerized maintenance management systems, subcontractor and vendor management, capacity planning, and performance indicators.
• Ability to use hand tools and test equipment, troubleshoot equipment through graphical interfaces, respond to alarms, and stabilize systems until specialized technicians arrive.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, PC, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel skills.
• U.S. citizenship may be required for government contract or security clearance reasons.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Visio and AutoCAD.
• Apprentice-level experience with electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.
