Director, Compliance (Education Technology)

Location: US Remote; travel to company offices and conferences less than twice per month.

Salary: $110,500–$196,500 per year, plus eligibility for the company bonus plan.

What you will do

• Develop and lead the enterprise-wide Compliance and Ethics Program, including the annual work plan, compliance calendar, and Compliance and Ethics Committee.
• Oversee compliance risk assessments, monitoring programs, cultural surveys, and reviews across high-risk areas.
• Manage the Compliance Hotline, including intake, triage, referrals, investigations, resolution, and data-driven trend analysis.
• Lead complex compliance investigations and ensure corrective actions and remediation plans are implemented and tracked.
• Report compliance gaps, investigation findings, and remediation strategies to the General Counsel, executive leadership, Board members, and investors.
• Build cross-functional relationships, develop policies and reporting mechanisms, and deliver compliance training and awareness campaigns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree such as a J.D., MBA, or relevant master’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification required or expected within 12 months of hire.
• 8–10 years of progressive compliance, ethics, legal, or regulatory experience, including 3–5 years leading or managing a compliance function.
• Experience designing and operationalizing enterprise-wide compliance programs covering risk assessment, investigations, monitoring, policies, and training.
• Proven experience managing compliance investigations end-to-end, including hotline oversight, case management, root cause analysis, and senior-level reporting.
• Experience presenting compliance performance, risk findings, and remediation strategies to executive leadership, boards, or investors.

• Experience in education technology or another highly regulated industry such as healthcare, financial services, or government contracting.
