Head of Security (AI)

Location: London, United Kingdom; in-person work from the London office

Salary: £130,000–£200,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and own the security programme, roadmap, risk assessments, and overall security posture.
• Act as the primary security contact for frontier AI lab partners and maintain technical security documentation.
• Define security principles and the application security strategy for engineering.
• Set policies for AI tools, agents, integrations, and data handling.
• Select, implement, and automate security tooling, including EDR/MDR, endpoint management, email protection, identity management, and infrastructure as code.
• Lead compliance and certification initiatives, administer Google Workspace, and build secure onboarding and offboarding processes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations, or a related technical security role.
• Experience building or significantly maturing a security programme and gaining trust from non-security stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cloud security, including AWS IAM, networking, and infrastructure reviews.
• Experience with ISO 27001, SOC 2, endpoint management, and identity/access management.
• Experience administering Google Workspace or an equivalent platform.
• Interest in Apollo's AI safety mission and ability to work hands-on in a fast-changing environment.

Nice to have

• Ability to review Terraform infrastructure as code and Python application code for security issues.
• Experience serving as a security contact for external partners or customers.
• Work experience, coursework, or research related to AI safety.
