Vice President, Safety & Compliance (Food Safety)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid schedule requiring 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $290,000–$318,500 per year in New York, with geographic-specific compensation structures.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the Food Safety, Quality & Compliance organization and establish a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Set the company-wide strategy, governance, policies, KPIs, and reporting for food safety and quality across production, distribution, restaurants, and customer-facing operations.
• Oversee workplace safety programs and compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Build scalable technology and data systems for compliance, quality, auditing, traceability, incident management, and reporting.
• Lead enterprise risk assessments, crisis and recall management, business continuity, supplier risk, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
• Advise senior leadership and the Board while partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, Culinary, Technology, Legal, Finance, suppliers, auditors, and regulators.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in food safety, quality, compliance, regulatory affairs, risk management, or a related field.
• Deep food safety and quality expertise with experience expanding into operational, workplace, and corporate compliance.
• Experience building and scaling programs in complex, multi-site, consumer-facing, or high-growth organizations.
• Experience across complex supply chains, suppliers, facilities, multiple geographies, and regulatory environments.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality systems, supplier management, risk assessment, incident management, and regulatory readiness.
• Experience implementing technology-enabled compliance and quality systems and communicating with C-suite and Board stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related technical field.
• Experience with FSMA Section 204, traceability, HACCP, PCQI, or similar food safety frameworks.
• Background in restaurants, fresh food, manufacturing, distribution, franchising, or other complex consumer-facing environments.
• Experience building a global or multi-regional food safety and quality organization and working with compliance or traceability technology.
