TL;DR
Structural Engineer III (Aerospace & Defense) (metallic and composite structures): Leading the design, analysis, testing, and certification of advanced aerospace and defense structures with an accent on structural analysis, certification, and cross-functional systems integration. Focus on developing structural test plans, performing finite element and fatigue analyses, and guiding junior engineers on complex aircraft and missile-system programs.

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado; office or hybrid environment

Salary: $108,496.89–$149,183.22 per year

What you will do

  • Lead the design and analysis of advanced metallic and composite aerospace and defense structures.
  • Develop and execute structural test plans and perform detailed structural analyses.
  • Identify design improvements and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural designs into complete systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and communicate technical information, specifications, and project updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, civil engineering, or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in structural engineering or a related role.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design principles, computer-aided engineering tools, and static or dynamic analysis.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary design and development teams and understand technical documents, designs, and test reports.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for employment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree, Professional Engineering license, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with FEA tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
  • Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using NASGRO or AFGROW.
  • Experience authoring substantiation reports, performing classical hand calculations, or working with FAA, NASA, or DoD regulations.
  • Aerospace and defense or missile system development experience.
