Senior Software Engineer, Prime (Fintech)

Location: London, UK; hybrid with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

What you will do

• Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of complex systems for institutional settlement, credit, matched-book lending, and cross-venue order flows.
• Write technical designs and break ambiguous work into reviewable implementation steps.
• Define failure states, invariants, recovery strategies, reliability requirements, and risk controls.
• Shape the technical roadmap and architecture for systems that handle institutional money.
• Mentor engineers through design-focused code reviews and act as a technical partner across teams.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems.

Requirements

• Experience independently delivering and operating complex, high-ambiguity backend systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with financial systems such as balances, ledgers, risk engines, settlement, or payments.
• Deep knowledge of distributed state, transactional integrity, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics.
• Strong design judgment, including failure-path analysis, invariants, testing, and monitoring.
• Excellent communication, cross-team alignment, design review, and engineering mentorship skills.
• Fluency in a modern backend language; the primary technologies are Python, Django, and Go.
