Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python 3.11 with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Build and improve RESTful APIs, payment flows, integrations, and internal engineering tools.
• Contribute to the architecture and long-term technical development of Payments systems.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability, code quality, and engineering processes.
• Investigate production incidents, recurring problems, legacy systems, technical debt, and root causes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Compliance, Operations, and business teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills and deep knowledge of Django or similar frameworks.
• Experience with relational databases, caching, high-performance backend systems, REST APIs, service design, and distributed systems.
• Experience with complex or legacy systems, production environments, and system stability improvements.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and modern engineering workflows, plus strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
• English at B2+ level and fluent Russian required.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or other message brokers.
• Experience with payment providers or financial integrations.
• Open-source contributions or personal side projects.
