TL;DR
Lead Engineer (Fintech): Designing, building and operating complex financial products and systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and infrastructure with an accent on scalable architecture, reliability and hands-on technical leadership. Focus on making architectural trade-offs, solving difficult production problems, mentoring engineers, and driving major initiatives from idea to production.
Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the local office

What you will do
- Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features and engineering initiatives.
- Design scalable, reliable and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure.
- Write and review code, prototype solutions, debug complex issues and solve production problems.
- Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
- Review technical designs and code, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards across the team.
- Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, resolve root causes and improve reliability, tooling and automation.
Requirements
- Significant experience building and shipping production software systems.
- Deep technical expertise in one or more areas including backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong system design, architecture and coding skills, with a willingness to remain hands-on.
- Experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions, influence teams, and connect engineering choices to product and business outcomes.
- Strong English communication is required, and candidates must be based in or able to work from the location where the role is advertised.
