Software Developer Intern, Backend (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, Canada; in-person attendance required at least 3 days per week

Salary: $40 CAD per hour

What you will do

• Own a backend project from initial scoping through production launch.
• Design, build, test, and release software for a live financial platform.
• Develop and scale services, infrastructure, and data systems.
• Maintain and improve an existing codebase using Python/Django, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve critical organization-wide problems.
• Work with a dedicated mentor throughout onboarding and project delivery.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program graduating in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and knowledge of coding best practices.
• Prior software development experience through internships, hackathons, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with Python/Django or Go, plus relational databases and transactions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to drive projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Interest in financial technology and fintech products.
