Staff Software Engineer (Python)

Location: On-site in Vancouver or Kitchener, Canada

Salary: CA$194,500–CA$226,750 per year for exceptional talent based in Ontario, Canada; base salary only, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the 1–3 year roadmap and vision for shared services.
• Architect the decomposition of existing functionality into reusable platform services.
• Create architectural designs, technical estimates, and project plans.
• Lead the execution of shared-services platformization projects and delivery milestones.
• Develop well-tested features, review technical designs, and solve complex engineering problems.
• Deliver internal demos and mentor engineers while contributing to user-focused projects.

Requirements

• Experienced backend-focused software engineering background with ownership of software delivery and operational excellence.
• Deep experience architecting complex systems across multiple roles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, debugging, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration.
• Experience with agile development, mentoring engineers, and driving technical execution.
• Backend experience with Python and Google Cloud Platform, including AppEngine, Datastore, BigQuery, Dataflow, Memcache, Cloud Tasks, and Pub/Sub.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, Datadog, Grafana, Vue.js, Vuex, Electron, and third-party integrations.
