Software Architect (PHP/SaaS)

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada

Annual base pay: CAD 125,000–145,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement software solutions aligned with business strategies and client requirements.
• Define server-side and client-side architecture, solution scope, plans, deliverables, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with product managers, project managers, business analysts, developers, and QA specialists to guide implementation.
• Engage with clients and business analysts to understand objectives and propose suitable technical solutions.
• Support project timelines, risk management, coding standards, version control, security, and quality reviews.
• Coach engineers on architectural patterns and mitigate technical risks and delivery issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience with end-to-end architecture for large projects in the SaaS industry.
• Expertise in enterprise applications, web services, and software management at scale.
• Experience with high availability, performance, scale-out architecture, disaster recovery, security architecture, and cloud-based architectures.
• Software development experience with object-oriented and modular PHP, plus Laravel or Symfony MVC frameworks.
• Knowledge of relational database design, RESTful API design, OpenAPI/JSON Schema documentation, enterprise application tiers, and information security practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud services such as Lambda, ECS, RDS, and ElastiCache.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as AngularJS or Vue.js.
