Lead DevOps Engineer (AWS/Azure)

Location: London, United Kingdom. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; documentary evidence is required.

What you will do

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, and DevOps standards.
• Own AWS and Azure infrastructure, setting standards for security, reliability, scalability, performance, compliance, and cost management.
• Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules, remote state, environments, and controlled infrastructure changes.
• Develop CircleCI pipelines with secret detection, dependency and container scanning, SBOM generation, code-quality checks, and software supply-chain controls.
• Operate production Kubernetes platforms with Argo CD, Helm, and container tooling; improve observability, incident response, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, technical problem-solving, and clear communication with engineering, security, product, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Deep production experience with AWS or Azure, with confidence in the other platform.
• Strong knowledge of networking, identity, security controls, governance, and cloud infrastructure operations.
• Experience building reusable Terraform module catalogues, managing remote state, and supporting multiple environments, accounts, or subscriptions.
• Production Kubernetes experience covering deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, capacity, performance, Helm, and GitOps; Argo CD experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and implementing DevSecOps controls, including secrets detection, dependency and container scanning, SBOM generation, and supply-chain security.
• Regular use of Python or Bash, with experience in observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, production reliability, and technical mentoring.

• Terragrunt and CircleCI experience.
• Cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
• Experience designing and testing backup, resilience, and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Experience working in a geographically distributed engineering team.
