Solution Engineer (Electronic Tolling)

Location: Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, or Szeged, Hungary. Remote work is available only within Hungary due to European taxation regulations. The role requires extensive travel of approximately 30–50%.

A large IT and telecommunications services organization and subsidiary of a multinational telecommunications group, employing more than 5,300 people and serving major customers in Germany and other European countries.

What you will do

• Manage and strategically develop relationships with public authorities and tolling operators while identifying market opportunities and supporting customer acquisition.
• Analyze, structure, and document business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, commercially viable solution concepts.
• Lead Product Owners, System Architects, and Subject Matter Experts through proposals, tenders, and solution development.
• Own and prioritize the solution backlog and product portfolio in line with customer needs, product strategy, and market requirements.
• Coordinate implementations, customer engagements, workshops, decision milestones, proposals, and presentations with internal teams, partners, and suppliers.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, trade fairs, press communications, and digital marketing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in pre-sales, solution consulting, or selling complex IT solutions.
• Experience in requirements engineering, solution design, system architecture, customer acquisition, and converting opportunities into signed contracts.
• Knowledge of tolling, road-user charging, or electronic fee collection systems is advantageous.
• Strong sales, analytical, communication, teamwork, stakeholder-management, and customer-presentation skills.
• Excellent English communication skills are required; German is an advantage. Openness to integrating new technologies and artificial intelligence into business solutions is expected.
