Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) — Java & React

Location: London, United Kingdom; the role may involve occasional client travel or agreed on-site working, with the possibility to work from home.

What you will do

• Build and operate reliable JVM-based services using Kotlin or modern Java.
• Design APIs, integrations, documentation, and event-driven asynchronous workflows.
• Deliver end-to-end features by connecting backend services and data with React and TypeScript interfaces.
• Develop automated tests and improve build, test, deployment, logging, metrics, and tracing capabilities.
• Participate in technical discovery, architecture discussions, peer reviews, and technical decision-making.
• Support production systems, address technical debt and reliability risks, and help maintain shared engineering quality.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Kotlin or modern Java, ideally Java 17 or later, and the JVM ecosystem.
• Experience designing, building, and operating APIs and working with relational databases.
• Experience with modern frontend development, preferably React and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to write effective automated tests and work with CI/CD and production software.
• Understanding of service reliability, maintainability, performance, security, and technical trade-offs.
• English-language application documents are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, asynchronous or event-driven architectures, and observable systems.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor, AWS, Azure, GCP, and containers.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, shared platforms, greenfield foundations, RESTful API design, or regulated and financial-services environments.
