Java and React Software Engineer

Location: Porto, Portugal; candidates must already be based in Portugal and have the legal right to work there. The role offers the possibility to work from home and requires travel to clients in countries such as Switzerland and Germany. Visa sponsorship and relocation support are not available.

What you will do

• Implement purpose-built business applications for international public-sector clients.
• Contribute across the full product lifecycle, from initial ideas through development and go-live.
• Use Java, React, and DevOps tools to deliver effective customer solutions.
• Work directly with clients to understand domains, requirements, and business goals.
• Collaborate with software engineers and architects in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Apply GenAI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Requirements

• University degree in computer science or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Java and React.
• DevOps mindset with a strong focus on code quality and automated testing.
• Motivation to achieve ambitious goals collaboratively and communicate directly with customers.
• Fluent English is required.
• Legal right to work in Portugal is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Playwright, Azure, Helm, Terraform, GitHub Workflows, or Spring Boot.
• Experience working with AI agents such as Copilot or Claude.
