TL;DR
Mechanical Fitter (Hydro Power) (heavy rotating plant and hydro generation): Maintaining and repairing hydro generation assets at the Manapōuri Power Station with an accent on fault response, planned maintenance, and safe plant operation. Focus on investigating control-system faults, responding to emergencies, and supporting on-site maintenance projects.
Location: On-site at Manapōuri Power Station, West Arm, Manapōuri, New Zealand. The role follows a 9-day fortnight, includes travel by boat before the start of the working day, and requires rostered reactive maintenance and monitoring outside normal hours after training. Relocation support is available.

What you will do
- Execute scheduled maintenance and support projects for hydro generation assets.
- Respond to faults and emergencies and investigate and resolve equipment issues.
- Repair, maintain, and install electrical equipment.
- Plan, prepare, execute, and report on maintenance work.
- Apply safety procedures, identify hazards, and maintain the competencies required for access permits, safety isolations, and plant operation under remote supervision.
- Support continuous improvement and adapt maintenance activities to changing generation requirements.
Requirements
- Trade or Advanced Trade Certificate in Mechanical Trades.
- Experience maintaining heavy rotating plant.
- Experience with control-system fault finding.
- Understanding of maintenance management systems and sound computer literacy.
- Current driver’s licence and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices.

- Experience in hydro generation.
