ASME Welder (Geothermal)

Location: Rakaunui Road, Taupo, Waikato Region, New Zealand

What you will do

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, fabrication plans, and welding specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble, fit, and weld components in line with project requirements and ASME standards.
• Inspect materials, equipment, and work areas before starting work and operate welding and fabrication equipment safely.
• Perform quality checks and precision measurements, maintain inspection records, and support traceability and compliance.
• Identify defects and non-conformities, assist with corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to meet production schedules while maintaining health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Valid ASME IX certification to 6G or an equivalent welding qualification.
• Experience as a welder in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or heavy engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of ASME codes and standards, particularly the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
• Experience with multiple welding processes, fabrication techniques, mechanical fitting, assembly, and installation.
• Ability to read technical drawings, fabrication plans, and welding specifications.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, precision measuring equipment, quality control procedures, documentation, and safe working practices.
