Mechanical Fitter (Geothermal)

Location: Rakaunui Road, Taupō, Waikato Region, New Zealand; workshop and site-based work on geothermal and industrial projects.

What you will do

• Maintain, repair, overhaul, and install geothermal pipeline systems, valves, steamfield equipment, and related infrastructure.
• Perform planned maintenance and emergency outage work while minimising operational downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, specialist fitting equipment, precision measuring tools, and gauges safely and efficiently.
• Read technical drawings, blueprints, engineering specifications, and work instructions; inspect and measure completed work against required tolerances.
• Collaborate with supervisors, project teams, and geothermal operations personnel while maintaining accurate work records and HSEQ compliance.

Requirements

• Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar engineering, maintenance, or industrial fitting role.
• Strong mechanical assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repair, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Full New Zealand Driver Licence required.

• Experience in geothermal operations or steamfield environments.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Additional mechanical fitting or engineering certifications and specialist training.
• Experience with precision measuring tools and gauges.
