Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Nuclear Manufacturing)

Location: On-site five days per week at the Torrance, California headquarters; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available. Applicants must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

What you will do

• Develop, revise, and release manufacturing work instructions for development and test hardware.
• Plan and support test builds, including readiness, materials, tools, sequencing, and documentation.
• Develop concepts of operations defining build objectives, roles, workflows, safety considerations, and expected outcomes.
• Lead defined portions of development and test builds under manufacturing-engineering guidance.
• Perform hands-on assembly, integration, inspection, and test support for assigned hardware.
• Capture build data, deviations, issues, and lessons learned, then improve instructions and processes with design, test, quality, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or another relevant engineering or technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience from coursework, student design teams, research, employment, or personal technical projects.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written instructions and verbal updates.
• Ability to collaborate and learn in a hands-on manufacturing and test environment.
• Ability to work on-site five days per week in Torrance, California.
• Must satisfy applicable U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience creating procedures, work instructions, build plans, test plans, or other technical documentation.
• Experience assembling, fabricating, integrating, or testing mechanical hardware.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD, GD&T, bills of materials, or manufacturing process documentation.
• Experience collecting test data and documenting nonconformances or build issues.
• Participation in Formula SAE, Baja SAE, rocketry, robotics, maker, laboratory, or comparable hands-on projects.
