Location: Hybrid in Oakland, California; office attendance required at least two or three days per week

Salary: $129,000–$207,000 per year, plus eligibility for discretionary incentive compensation

What you will do

  • Lead the development and deployment of Distribution System State Estimation and predictive analytics capabilities.
  • Design and operationalize grid intelligence platforms using SCADA, AMI, DER, outage, weather, and asset health data.
  • Develop real-time and forecasted visibility into distribution circuit conditions, asset health, operational risk, and reliability outcomes.
  • Establish technical standards and best practices for digital grid modeling, forecasting, and advanced analytics.
  • Identify future challenges, develop recommendations, and create innovative quantitative models, tools, and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership, assess third-party work, and coach, mentor, and train colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, physics, econometrics, economics, engineering, mathematics, applied sciences, statistics, business, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 6 years of job-related experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 5 years or a doctorate with 3 years of experience.
  • Experience developing complex quantitative models and analytical assumptions.
  • Ability to work from the Oakland office at least two or three days per week.
  • Strong capability in predictive grid intelligence, reliability analytics, and data-driven decision-making.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in power system engineering.
  • Eight years of job-related experience.
  • Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, physics-based modeling, and digital twin technologies.
