Modeling and Simulation Engineering Intern

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; work includes office, laboratory, shop, and test environments.

Salary: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

What you will do

• Assist with multibody dynamics modeling, vehicle performance analysis, and co-simulation activities.
• Build, modify, run, and post-process simulation models for vehicles and mechanical systems.
• Compare and correlate simulation results with physical test data.
• Develop scripts and tools for simulation setup, data processing, visualization, and reporting.
• Collaborate with design, test, controls, and manufacturing engineering teams.
• Document model assumptions, analysis methods, results, and conclusions, and participate in technical reviews.

Requirements

• Foundational coursework in dynamics, mechanics, controls, numerical methods, or a related subject.
• Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, manage time, and apply feedback.
• Commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement, and accountability.
• Ability to work safely in office, laboratory, shop, or test environments and move light engineering equipment as required.
• Some schedule flexibility may be required for testing, project milestones, or team activities.

Nice to have

• Exposure to multibody dynamics or simulation tools such as Adams, Dymola, or Simscape.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
• Understanding of mechanical systems, vehicle dynamics, controls, engineering data analysis, plotting, or signal processing.
• Previous internship, Formula SAE, Baja SAE, research, laboratory, design-team, or engineering project experience.
