Mechanical Engineer Intern (Defense Vehicles)

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for Summer 2027 is required; relocation assistance is provided for candidates whose permanent address is more than 50 miles from Oshkosh.

Salary: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support design, production, manufacturing, industrial, and test engineers with mechanical engineering tasks.
• Prepare vehicle component layouts and mechanical models using CAD tools such as CATIA, Creo, or Pro/E.
• Select components and perform calculations related to weight distribution, stress, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and performance.
• Follow prototype, pilot, and production builds on the assembly floor and provide technical assistance.
• Design, model, and test mechanical systems integrated into vehicles.
• Create engineering change notices and update bills of materials in PLM and PDM systems.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field throughout the internship.
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for Summer 2027.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to support vehicle or component testing, technical analysis, and collaboration with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.

Nice to have

• Experience with CATIA, Creo, Pro/E, or a similar CAD system.
• Previous internship or work-related experience.
• Previous experience or strong interest in mechanical design.
• Extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.
